At Vail Valley Surgery Center, you will find specialized surgical care in many areas including orthopedic, Gastroenterology, Pain Management, Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology (ENT), Plastic Surgery, Podiatry and General Surgery.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Our Vail VVSC<\/span> location has 6 Operating Rooms and 25 Preop<\/span>\/PACU<\/span> bays.<\/p>\n

About the opportunity:\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n
The surgical Tech will assist with the surgical care of the patient in the operating room. Duties include, but are not exclusive of stocking, pulling cases for the next day, pulling instruments, cleaning OR after cases, replenishing and preparation of surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment. Functions as a member of the surgical team by assisting and anticipating needs of the surgeon. Maintains current education in aseptic technique, routine operating room procedures, and all other duties as assigned.<\/div>\n

What you will do:<\/strong><\/div>\n
    \n
  1. \n
    Scrub person functions with working knowledge of aseptic technique and AORN<\/span> Standards.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  2. \n
    Checks all items for proper packaging, processing, moisture, seal and packaging integrity, sterile indicator if present, and expiration dates.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  3. \n
    Maintains sterile integrity of all items and fluids introduced onto the field.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  4. \n
    Monitors sterile field for events that may contaminate field and corrective action initiated.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  5. \n
    When moving within or around a sterile field does so in a manner to maintain the integrity of the sterile field.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  6. \n
    Prior to use, all equipment is visually checked for fraying of cords and plugs or other damage.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  7. \n
    When turning on machine, confirms self test pattern as necessary.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  8. \n
    Anticipates need for equipment and supplies as evidenced by no delays in procedures.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  9. \n
    Knows the order in use of material and supplies.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  10. \n
    Reports changes<\/span> in temperature of room to appropriate person.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  11. \n
    Perceptive to patient\u2019s sensory environment.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  12. \n
    Monitors, evaluates and revised preference cards.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  13. \n
    Contributes to the individualized, ongoing delivery of care with in the scope of practice.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  14. \n
    Maintains flexibility and appropriate response to changes in priorities, established plans, goals or time frames.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  15. \n
    Supports the decisions and actions of the Manager or Charge Nurse. Respects others.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  16. \n
    Participates in departmental QI program including confidential occurrence reporting.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  17. \n
    Perform other duties as assigned. Must be HIPAA compliant<\/span>.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Experience:<\/strong><\/div>\n

    • Preferred, one year of Operating Room experience working as an OR technician\/surgical technician in a hospital setting.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
      License(s):<\/strong><\/div>\n
        \n
      • Licensed in the state of Colorado as a Surgical Technician required<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
        Certification(s):<\/strong><\/div>\n
          \n
        • Basic Life Support (BLS<\/span>) required.<\/li>\n
        • Certification from ASTI (Association of Surgical Technologists, Inc.) preferred.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
